SS21 Trends that you’ll love to see

Despite being locked up again the end appears to be in sight. This means, hopefully, were going to be back out this summer better than ever. Let’s talk spring summer 2021 trends to get you in the mood for a less restricted life.

Wide Leg, baggy trousers

In 2020, we saw the resurgence of the beloved flare. Paying homage to the 70s and the 2000s the flare was back with vengeance. Everyone and there gran was wearing them last year, but this year an even wider hem is coming.

Whether you love them or hate them, wide trousers are quite practical for the spring and summer because there light and airy. However, if living in areas where the climate is unpredictable they still provide a bit of warmth due to the amount of fabric. They are set to be a massive trend this year.

Disco 2021; Sequins are back!

Who doesn’t love a scratchy sequin? In 2021 we will see more glitter than ever. Probably due to the lack of parties last year we will want to get dressed up and go out this year. Sequins are the perfect way to do that. They can easily be dressed down as well to make them more wearable for smaller gatherings (when they’re allowed to happen).

A less Victorian corset

The concept of underwear as outer wear has been around for a long time, the corset specifically, is forecast to make a return in 2021. Steel boning also appears to be a theme. Georgian and victorian fashion is seen to be the biggest influence of this new trend. Personal inspiration favourites include; Carrie Bradshaw’s Vivienne Westwood wedding dress pictured below.

Heavy Metals

Back to the future 2 ? Metallic futuristic looks are coming; one of the only things that the 1989 film predicted correctly. However this futuristic look will be more muted and wearable. We are set to see a lot of shiny dresses and silver tones this year !

High hopes for this year and the world of fashion. Especially in the current climate, it would be brilliant to see more fashion houses turning in a sustainable direction for 2021.
