Taylor Swift and the Super Bowl have been dominating the Internet in recent weeks- two entities which are rarely synonymous; unless related to the notorious halftime show. However, since Taylor Swift publicly revealed her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, it's all social media can talk about.
The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL), scheduled for Sunday, February 11th. The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will face off at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The Super Bowl stands as one of the world's most watched sporting events, drawing the largest audience among all American broadcasts each year. This creates a platform for numerous companies to showcase elaborate advertisements, aiming to make their brands stand out during this highly anticipated event.
While all eyes will be on Taylor Swift, it remains uncertain whether she will be in attendance, but if she does, she'll undoubtedly be cheering on Kelce from the stands.
Swift and Kelce’s relationship began around July of last year, after Kelce’s attempt to give Taylor a friendship bracelet at her Eras tour in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Travis spoke about the plan on his ‘New Heights' podcast - which he hosts with his brother NFL player Jason Kelce – explaining he had put his number on the bracelet, but evidently, his plan was not successful.
During an appearance on an American sports show, Travis mentioned that he had extended an invitation to Taylor to join him at Arrowhead Stadium to watch him play. He shared with sports personality Pat McAfee, “I tossed the ball her way and, you know, I mentioned, ‘I’ve seen you light up the stage at Arrowhead,’” he relayed to McAfee. “You might need to witness me rock the stage at Arrowhead and see which one’s truly lit.”
Finally, in September, Swift shocked football fans and her Swifties alike when she spent the day cheering Travis on from the boxes at Arrowhead Stadium, watching the Chiefs take on the Chicago Bears and winning 41-10.
Their relationship has blossomed ever since, and very publicly at that.
Soon Taylor became somewhat of a good luck charm for the Chiefs, with the team winning nine of the 12 games at which she has been in attendance.
The speculation of whether Taylor will be at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, the 11th, boils down to her 4-day stint in Tokyo for her International Eras Tour. Taylor will be playing at the Tokyo Dome in Japan from the 7th to 10th of February, making her extremely pressed for time.
Social media platforms such as TikTok, X, and Instagram have seen Swifties making assumptions surrounding the situation.
In particular, TikTok user Kyle Philippi made a video attempting to show his wife how the journey could be achieved, by creating a PowerPoint presentation.

During his presentation, Kyle takes into account the time zones between Las Vegas and Tokyo, explaining to his wife that Taylor's show will finish at 11 pm in Tokyo on the tenth, which is only 6 am Vegas time. Later suggesting that she could go straight from the stadium to a private jet, embarking on the 8,900 KM journey to the Super Bowl.
Swifties took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their excitement for the Super Bowl, with User @ItsMrsRabbitToU writing, “Who are you all rooting for in the Super Bowl? I’m rooting for Taylor Swift.” While user @AngelaBalcamino wrote, “I’ll be watching my first Super Bowl this weekend only because Taylor Swift is going to be there. Go Missouri Chiefs!”
If Taylor has brought one thing to the NFL, then it's attraction from new fans all over the world excited to watch the game, in hopes for a quick peek of their favourite artist, Taylor Swift.
With the 17-hour time difference hopefully working in her favour, the Swifties and the whole of the NFL sit tight in hopes for her arrival at the big game tonight !
